Located on the first floor of a historic building in the heart of Koper, the apartment has deep historical roots. Once the residence of a noble family, the building was divided into smaller apartments after World War II, as was the case with many other properties in the area. Beyond its privileged location, charming facade, and architectural details, one of the most striking features of the building is the &#8220;noble floor,&#8221; characterized by an impressive height of 4.3 meters.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"742\" data-end=\"1120\">In our intervention, the goal was to restore some of the original grandeur, facing two main challenges:<br data-start=\"845\" data-end=\"848\" \/>\u2013 The limited number of windows (only three, all on the same facade).<br data-start=\"917\" data-end=\"920\" \/>\u2013 The specific needs of the clients, who desired a spacious living room, a bedroom, an office that could easily be transformed into another bedroom, a bathroom, a storage room, and a technical room.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1122\" data-end=\"1599\">While a traditional approach might have suggested placing the bedroom in front of one of the windows, thus limiting space and natural light, we chose to optimize the use of the existing windows and move the other rooms to the interior of the apartment. The rooms are arranged on two levels, separated by a second facade. The use of glass and two layers of curtains helps balance privacy and natural light, offering views of the main street and making the most of natural light.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1601\" data-end=\"2102\"><strong data-start=\"1601\" data-end=\"1616\">Apartment 2<\/strong><br data-start=\"1616\" data-end=\"1619\" \/>This project involves a small studio in the historic center of Koper, conceived with the principle of &#8220;a box within a box.&#8221; The new &#8220;black box&#8221; houses all the main functions of the apartment, spread across two levels: the kitchen and bathroom are on the first level, and the bedroom is on the second. The &#8220;white box&#8221; represents the original apartment, preserved in its original form, with high ceilings, stone walls, windows, and a balcony door that reflect the building\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2104\" data-end=\"2466\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The contrast between the forms and colors of the two environments creates a unique expressive language, enriching the living experience and giving the project a distinctive and original personality. The fusion of modern and historical elements offers a unique experience, where every detail contributes to a fascinating dialogue between the past and the
